GO AND SEE SOME FOOTBALL

27-Mar 21:14, by Ketts

International weekend again so no Charlton to watch tomorrow, although this is a problem we may not have next season.

There is wall-to-wall football on television, loads of international games following on from the lunch time offering of Wycombe Wanderers v Shrewsbury Town.

If you have no real desire to watch Holland thrash Scotland why not go and take in a match featuring one of your local non-league sides? It's an idea we have floated before but it really is worth considering. Let's face it, it can hardly be worse than what we have had to endure at the Valley this season can it?

Plenty of effort, commitment and if you are lucky a fair dollop of skill to watch as well. If you go into the lower reaches of the pyramid it will only cost you a couple of quid to get in, you can get a drink and something to eat without problem throughout the afternoon and you may well witness a hard fought local derby to boot.

It's also an ideal opportunity to take a youngster to their first match, if they get bored they can run around. If you get bored you can chase after them!

I was going to watch a United Counties match between Rothwell Corinthians and Long Buckby. Just up the road is the higher grade BGB League game between Rothwell Town and Bedworth United.

A bit of a spanner has been thrown in the works by Rashid Yussuff signing on loan for Ebbsflleet who are playing at Kettering Town tomorow. Kettering's A-Line Arena  is a five minute walk for me. The Blue Square Premier is a fairly expensive League with Kettering wanting around £14 for a seat. I shall have to ponder on which game to go to now.

So see what's on offer near you and you may be pleasantly surprised. And you will still be home in time for the England game.
