Yeah, thats us. Lots of pride, the odd bit of passion - but not much in the way of success, to be honest.
THE CHARLTON ATHLETIC ROLL OF HONOUR
1947: We won the FA Cup. UP THE ADDICKS!
1990: We nearly won a seat on the local council. YAY!
One trophy, and nearly one seat on the chuffing council - in more than a hundred years. Is it any wonder that we are all constantly in and out of therapy?
Our Man In Th Know reports on the latest chapter in the life and times of Izale McLeod.
A year ago Izale McLeod fell out with Kenny Jackett when on loan at Millwall, with Jackett trying, unsuccessfully, to send the striker back to The Valley.
Fast forward twelve months and the same thing has happened at Peterborough. Posh apparently wanted him to go back to Charlton but the situation has been further complicated by Peterborough sacking manager Mark Cooper after just two months in charge.
Phil Parkinson is adamant that McLeod will see out his loan spell at London Road. He had this to say about the situation: “It isn’t going to happen. Peterborough signed Izale until the end of the season and it is up to them how they deal with the problem they have with the player.
“It is an internal matter for Peterborough United and not Charlton.”
One thing that seems certain is McLeod's switch to Peterborough will not be made permanent. Chris Dickson similarly failed to secure a permanent deal at Bristol Rovers. Stuart Fleetwood is the third of Charlton's strikers to go out on loan, he is on a season long secondment at Exeter. He is another player the club would like to move on.
At least McLeod won the Peterborough heat of Soccer A.M's Crossbar Challenge, it's putting the ball under the bar he struggles with!
