Yeah, thats us. Lots of pride, the odd bit of passion - but not much in the way of success, to be honest.
THE CHARLTON ATHLETIC ROLL OF HONOUR
1947: We won the FA Cup. UP THE ADDICKS!
1990: We nearly won a seat on the local council. YAY!
One trophy, and nearly one seat on the chuffing council - in more than a hundred years. Is it any wonder that we are all constantly in and out of therapy?
On a night when Colchester came from behind to win, Charlton had to settle for a draw.
A trip to the Walsall programme Shop is a must for visitors to the Banks's Stadium. I picked up a few antique issues that are worth around £25-£30 for £2.50!
It was raining heavily before kick-off and the pitch was a mudheap. Surprisinly, Rob Ellot was out warming up and confirmed he would be starting the match.
Another must at the Banks's is the famous balti pie and it did not disappoint.
An early sighting of the team sheet revealed that Parkinson had made four changes from the team that started the Tranmere match. Chris Solly came in at left-back for Grant Basey, Sam made way for Wagstaff, Racon replaced Semedo and Akpo Sodje came in for David Mooney.
All four of the replaced players were on the bench where they were joined by Darren Randolph, Miguel Llera and Leon McKenzie.
The playing surface proved to be as difficult as it looked and the ball bobbled with every pass. Charlton dominated the early exchanges and looked more like the home side.
But yet again their bright start was undone by conceding a sloppy goal. A corner was cleared, then returned perfectly for Troy Deeney to nod beyond Elliot. The keeper was showing no sign of a reaction to his weekend injury and had no chance with the goal.
The Addicks got the goal their pressure deserved in first-half stoppage time. A quickly taken short corner by Bailey to Akpo Sodje caught Walsall napping. Jamie Vincent's challenge on Sodje was deemed a foul and Burton despatched the spot-kick with his usual aplomb.
It was more of the same in the second-half with Charlton enjoying the lion's share of the possession without seriously troubling Clayton Ince in the home goal.
Kyel Reid lasted the full 90 minutes and looked lively throughout, one second-half cross was an absolute peach but no-one applied the finishing touch.
Deeney went from hero to villain late on when he was sent off for a second bookable offence after bringing Wagstaff down. His first booking was for his protest following the penalty award.
Charlton will look back on this game as two points dropped rather than one gained. Once again, there is much for the manager to ponder ahead of the trip to Swindon.
