Yeah, thats us. Lots of pride, the odd bit of passion - but not much in the way of success, to be honest.
THE CHARLTON ATHLETIC ROLL OF HONOUR
1947: We won the FA Cup. UP THE ADDICKS!
1990: We nearly won a seat on the local council. YAY!
One trophy, and nearly one seat on the chuffing council - in more than a hundred years. Is it any wonder that we are all constantly in and out of therapy?
After spending much of the afternoon on the back foot, Charlton launched an amazing smash-and-grab raid at the death.
Today Charlton were superb, creative, exciting, culminating with a classy goal. Pity it was only for the last few minutes of each half!
After praising his side's effort at Walsall, it was surprising that Phil Parkinson shuffled his pack again. Grant Basey reclaimed the left-back spot from Chris Solly, while leading scorer Deon Burton was dropped to the bench in favour of Shelvey.
The shape changed as well. In front of the back-four, Bailey and Racon started in holding roles, negating their natural attacking instincts. Ahead of the midfield duo, Shelvey played behind lone striker, Akpo Sodje, and was flanked by Wagstaff and Reid. It looked horribly unbalanced.
Charlton spent the majority of the opening period very much on the back foot. Twelve minutes in, Gordon Greer hit the bar from a right-wing corner.
It was six minutes from the break before the visitors fashioned a chance. A sweeping move down the left saw Shelvey exchange passes with Reid before crashing a shot against the bar from the edge of the area.
Semedo was introduced in place of Wagstaff at the start of the second-half as Parkinson sought to stem Swindon's domination. Just three minutes in, he was forced into making another, enforced, change. Greer and Racon had a nasty clash of heads with the latter being unable to continue. Chris Solly took his place and slotted in at left-back with Basey moving forward.
The hosts made the long overdue break through after 64 minutes. Solly conceded a corner which eventually fell to right-back Kevin Amankwaah who converted from close range.
Parkinson responded by making his final change, replacing Basey with Deon Burton. Burton's influence began to give the visitors hope. The class of 2009/10 are nothing if not game. They had not had a good afternoon but never gave up and their persistence paid off in the third minute of injury time.
Sam Sodje found his younger brother on the left. Akpo fed the ball to Burton who cleverly turned and laid the ball into the path of Captin Marvel, Nicky Bailey, who rifled the ball past the keeper's right hand.
Cue delirium from the visiting support, as well as the manger who did a little jig on the touchline. Truth be told, neither fans nor manager could quite believe what they had seen.
