Yeah, thats us. Lots of pride, the odd bit of passion - but not much in the way of success, to be honest.
THE CHARLTON ATHLETIC ROLL OF HONOUR
1947: We won the FA Cup. UP THE ADDICKS!
1990: We nearly won a seat on the local council. YAY!
One trophy, and nearly one seat on the chuffing council - in more than a hundred years. Is it any wonder that we are all constantly in and out of therapy?
Doctor Kish is two today. Our Man In The Know wishes the site a happy birthday.
This ste is the phoenix from the old, much missed Frankie Valley blog. FV was simply a victim of its own huge success. It received more than 7000 posts on some days, all of which had to be vetted before they were put up.
It became an impossible task for Frankie, who had a full time job to hold down. Contrary to what some people think, workload was the only reason for the closure of FV.
Doctor Kish is split into two sites, this one and a seperate members' forum. The members site is small but gives a lot of fun to the old FV regulars.
This sight featured stories by several writers with Frankie himself and Ketts making daily contributions. As time went on, Frankie's workload bcame ever more onerous and his musings were produced in a once-a-week Sunday supplement. When the credit crunch really bit, even this was too much and Frankie is now, alas, just a peripheral figure on the blogging scene. We live in hope that one day the greatest of all Charlton bloggers will return.
As the credit crunch resulted in Frankie losing many of his colleagues to the dole queue, they were joined by Ketts. Now homing in on his 63rd birthday, the old boy has decided to retire - by mutual consent! - to concentrate on writing his drivel!
On 1 March 2008 Charlton won 2-0 at Bramall Lane and our fist match report was written on the hard shoulder of the M1 while a punctured tyre was dealt with.
The ethos of the site is much the same today as it was back then, we try to get at least one story up every day.
Thanks to everyone who has sent in contributions, to the regulars who send stuff in but most of all dear readers, thank you for your loyalty. Without an audience there would be little point in writing.
