A mail shot for a book about Sam Bartram arrived at the surgery today.
If you like the historical side of football in general and Charlton in particular, this book is a must for you. It is a quality production and is available from the club shop.
I could tell you more about it but the author can do it much better than I. Here's his review of his tome:

A revised updated and enlarged edition is now in the book stores telling the story of Charlton Athletic's remarkable goalkeeper of 22 years from 1934 to 1956.
Idolised in South East London and popular wherever he played Bartram was one of the country's best-loved players making 800 appearances for his only club either side of World War II and appearing against the likes of Real Madrid and Benfica long before European competitions were part of the football scene.
In his first three years at The Valley he helped Charlton rise from the Third Division to runners-up in the top flight - a unique footballing feat.
Still an inspiration to followers of all ages, he is remembered by a nine foot statue at Charlton, where there is also an entrance to the stadium, a street and restaurant in his name.
The book price £16.99 is a large format, coffee table style production, with over 300 illustrations.
